Abdel-Latif Al-Qanoua, the spokesperson for Hamas, has been killed by Israeli forces in northern Gaza’s Jabalia area. According to reports, he was killed when Israeli forces attacked his tent in the Jabalia Al-Balad region of northern Gaza.
The news was confirmed by Al Jazeera and Quds News Network. Quds News also published a photo showing Al-Qanoua’s body after the attack.
Reuters, citing Hamas-affiliated media, reported that the attack occurred early Thursday as Israeli airstrikes targeted northern Gaza. Since Israel resumed its military operations in Gaza, several senior Hamas officials have been killed.
Hamas-run Al-Aqsa Television reported that the strike on Al-Qanoua’s tent also injured several others. Separate attacks in Gaza City killed at least six people, while another person was killed in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, according to medical sources.
Earlier this week, Israel also killed Ismail Barhoum and Salah Al-Barhoum, two senior members of Hamas’s political bureau. Hamas sources confirmed that since the renewed conflict in late 2023, at least 11 senior Hamas leaders have been killed.
Since March 18, intensified Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have left at least 830 Palestinians dead and around 1,800 wounded, breaking the ceasefire agreement that was in effect since January.
Additionally, Israel is currently facing legal challenges at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for alleged genocide and at the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza.
