Israel’s cabinet is set to meet tonight to discuss the next steps in its ongoing conflict with Hamas in Gaza. The meeting will focus on the deadline for a potential hostage deal with Hamas and future military actions in the region.
Although a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was reached in January 2025, Israel broke the agreement on March 18 by launching renewed attacks on Gaza. Since then, negotiations have resumed, but no resolution has been achieved.
Senior Israeli ministers are reportedly pushing for intensified military action against Hamas, including deploying additional reserve troops with heavy weapons to Gaza. The goal is to pressure Hamas into agreeing to a ceasefire on Israel’s terms.
The cabinet will also discuss whether to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, where Israel has imposed a blockade since March 1, cutting off access to food and essential supplies for over 50 days.
