Israel is set to become the first country to roll out a nationwide AI tutoring system, marking a groundbreaking step in the integration of artificial intelligence into education. The initiative is a collaboration between eSelf, a global leader in conversational AI, and the Center for Educational Technology (CET), Israel’s largest K-12 textbook publisher. The pilot program will initially focus on Hebrew instruction and aims to provide every K-12 student with a personalized AI tutor.

How the AI Tutors Work
eSelf’s AI tutors are designed as interactive avatars that adapt to each student’s learning needs. These avatars provide real-time, multilingual support and offer visual explanations tailored to classroom content. By continuously analyzing individual strengths and weaknesses, the AI tutors deliver personalized guidance, helping students deepen their understanding, practice independently, and prepare for exams.

The initiative comes at a critical time, as the world faces a severe teacher shortage, with UNESCO projecting a deficit of 44 million primary and secondary educators. The AI tutoring system aims to close educational gaps and promote equity by making effective tutoring accessible to all students.
