Iran Threatens to Hide Nuclear Material Amid Israeli Strike Fears

The Voice News: Iran has warned that it may relocate its nuclear material to undisclosed sites to safeguard it from a potential Israeli attack, signaling a sharp escalation in nuclear tensions. The warning came via an official letter from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to the UN Secretary-General and the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Why It Matters:
Currently, the IAEA monitors Iran’s enriched uranium at declared sites. If the material is moved, verifying Iran’s nuclear activities becomes significantly harder, raising concerns about possible weapon development.

Context:
The move follows reports by CNN and Axios that Israel is preparing to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities if ongoing U.S.-Iran nuclear talks collapse. Sources say Israel believes its window for effective military action may soon close.

Araghchi’s Statement:
In his letter, Araghchi warned that Iran may take “special measures” to protect its nuclear assets, which will be reported to the IAEA afterward. He also cautioned that any Israeli attack would make the U.S. legally responsible.

Diplomatic Developments:
Araghchi is set to meet U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff in Rome for a fifth round of nuclear talks, with Oman’s foreign minister mediating. Talks have stalled over Iran’s demand to maintain domestic uranium enrichment—a red line for the U.S.

Israeli officials confirmed that Mossad Director David Barnea and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer will also be in Rome to coordinate with Witkoff.

U.S. and Israeli Positions:
Israel’s intelligence agencies now fear talks are on the verge of collapse. The urgency has prompted fast-tracked military planning, which may proceed with or without U.S. approval. Former President Donald Trump recently spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, affirming the goal to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

White House Reaction:
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated the president sees hope for a diplomatic resolution but warned that failure could lead to serious consequences for Iran.

Iran’s Warning:
Araghchi stressed that Iran will defend itself against any “terrorist or sabotage actions” and warned of a decisive response to Israeli “adventurism.”
