To enhance mutual cooperation, the navies of Iran, Russia, and China have announced joint military drills along Iran’s coast. These exercises are scheduled to take place this week, according to Iranian media reports on Sunday.
The three nations share a common goal of countering American dominance. They have conducted similar drills in the region over the past few years. According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, the military exercises will commence on Tuesday at Iran’s Chabahar port, located near the Gulf of Oman in southeastern Iran.
Tasnim did not specify when the drills would conclude. The report stated, “The drills will involve warships and other vessels from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, the army, the navy, as well as Chinese and Russian navies.”
The exercises will take place in the northern Indian Ocean and aim to strengthen regional security and promote multilateral cooperation among the participating nations.
Countries including Azerbaijan, South Africa, Oman, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Qatar, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, and Sri Lanka will participate as observers.
In a message on Chinese social media platform WeChat, Beijing’s defense ministry stated that China would deploy a destroyer and a supply ship for the drills at Chabahar port.
In February, the Iranian military conducted similar exercises in the same region to bolster its defense capabilities against potential threats.
