Innovative Rail Bus Launched in Dubai

Dubai has introduced an innovative rail bus, confirmed by the country’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Monday. According to the authorities, this new type of bus can reach a maximum speed of 100 km per hour and has the capacity to carry 40 passengers at a time, Gulf News reported.

The rail bus is a lightweight rail vehicle specifically designed for passenger transport. This environmentally friendly and innovative transportation system is more efficient compared to existing alternatives. Additionally, it is cost-effective.

Earlier, in January 2023, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the American company Rail Bus Incorporated. The MoU was signed at the Dubai International Project Management Forum. Under this system, the rail vehicle will operate on a special bridge equipped with solar panels that generate electricity to power the transportation system.

Dubai’s RTA also signed another memorandum of understanding with the UK-based Urban-Mass company. This agreement aims to assess the feasibility of developing the Flock Duo Rail system. The Flock Duo Rail is a double-track system designed to ensure fast and efficient transportation.

Abdul Mohsen Kalbat, CEO of Dubai RTA’s rail agency, stated, “Through these two memoranda of understanding, we are advancing toward adopting the latest technology and innovations in the transportation sector.”

He further explained, “Flock Duo Rail is the world’s first innovative transport system that utilizes a double-track design. It is fully automated and powered by electricity. The system will efficiently manage transportation by using smaller units when passenger demand is low and longer units when demand is high.”

Hatim Ibrahim, CEO of Rail Bus Incorporated, said, “Our collaboration with RTA will set a new benchmark for sustainable transportation development. Through this partnership, we aim to transform Dubai into a more environmentally friendly and smart city.”
