Indian Army Retaliates Against Unprovoked Firing by Pakistan Along LoC

Indian Army Retaliates Against Unprovoked Firing by Pakistan Along LoC
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), May 3 – Amid rising tensions following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Indian Army has responded to unprovoked small arms firing by the Pakistan Army across the Line of Control (LoC) during the intervening night of May 2 and 3.
According to officials, the Pakistan Army initiated firing in areas opposite Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army swiftly retaliated in a calibrated and proportionate manner, ensuring a strong response to the aggression.
This marks the ninth consecutive day of ceasefire violations by Pakistan, with previous instances reported in Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Naushera, and Akhnoor sectors. The Indian Army has consistently responded to these provocations, maintaining a firm stance against border violations.
The ongoing skirmishes follow the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists. In response, India has taken diplomatic and military measures, including closing its airspace to Pakistani aircraft from April 30 to May 23.
Despite a recent hotline conversation between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan, tensions remain high. India has warned Pakistan against further ceasefire violations, emphasizing the need for stability along the border.
Residents near the LoC have begun preparing community bunkers, anticipating further escalation. The Indian Army continues to monitor the situation closely, ensuring the safety of civilians and maintaining territorial integrity.
