Hugh Jackman’s Forgotten Fantasy Flick Becomes Netflix Hit

Hugh Jackman’s 2012 animated fantasy film Rise of the Guardians has found new life on Netflix, becoming the third most-watched English-language movie on the platform this week with over 5.4 million views.

Based on The Guardians of Childhood book series by William Joyce, the film follows a team of legendary characters—including Jackman’s tough-talking Easter Bunny, Alec Baldwin’s Santa Claus, and Isla Fisher’s Tooth Fairy—who unite to protect the world’s children from fear and despair. Chris Pine voices the young and rebellious Jack Frost, who must rise to the challenge when the sinister Pitch Black (Jude Law) threatens to destroy children’s belief in the Guardians.

Described as “The Avengers for kids,” Rise of the Guardians received critical praise for its animation and voice acting, earning a 75% ‘Certified Fresh’ score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film’s streaming resurgence coincides with Jackman’s current 12-show residency From New York With Love at Radio City Music Hall, featuring musical performances from his Broadway and film career, running through August 16.
