Houthis Release Crew of Hijacked Galaxy Leader After 14 Months

Today, the Houthis released the crew of the Galaxy Leader, a commercial vessel hijacked by Houthi terrorists in November 2023. The ship was seized at the start of the Houthis’ campaign of attacks on ships in the Red Sea in solidarity with Hamas.

The ship’s 25-member crew, consisting of citizens from the Philippines, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Mexico, and Romania, was held hostage in Yemen for the past 14 months. The release marks the end of a prolonged ordeal for the crew members and highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region.
