Hassan Nasrallah to Be Exhumed and Reburied

The body of former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah will be exhumed and reburied with full honors on February 23.

Hezbollah’s current leader, Naim Qassem, announced this in a televised speech on Sunday, February 2.

Hassan Nasrallah was killed on September 27 last year in an Israeli airstrike on Hezbollah’s headquarters in Beirut, Lebanon. At the time of the attack, he was inside a bunker at the headquarters.

In his speech, Hezbollah’s leader stated that the situation was different when Nasrallah was killed. Due to this, he had to be temporarily buried according to religious customs. However, now a large-scale farewell ceremony will be arranged, with many people in attendance.

After Nasrallah’s death, Hezbollah appointed Hashem Safi al-Din as their leader. However, a week later, Israel also assassinated Safi al-Din. Naim Qassem stated that a farewell ceremony will be held for both Nasrallah and Safi al-Din on the same day, and Safi al-Din will also be buried as a Hezbollah leader.

Following the deaths of Nasrallah and Safi al-Din, Hezbollah elected Naim Qassem as their new leader on October 29.

Meanwhile, a ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel began on November 26. According to the agreement, Israeli forces were supposed to leave Lebanon by January 26. However, they have not yet withdrawn. Reports suggest that Israeli forces may remain in Lebanon until February 18.
