Lewis Hamilton has expressed his excitement as he begins his new chapter with Ferrari in 2025. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion officially joined the iconic Italian team on January 1 and shared his thoughts on the move through a LinkedIn post.
“I couldn’t be more excited,” Hamilton wrote, emphasizing his commitment to “embracing new opportunities, staying hungry, and driving forward with purpose.”
Reflecting on his transition, Hamilton encouraged others to welcome change, saying, “Whether you’re switching industries, learning a new skill, or taking on new challenges, remember that reinvention is powerful. Your next opportunity is always within reach.”
Alongside his message, Hamilton posted a childhood photo of himself karting in a red helmet—a nod to Ferrari’s signature color.
Joining a Star-Studded Team
Hamilton joins Ferrari just days before his 40th birthday on January 7, partnering with Charles Leclerc. Their pairing is widely regarded as the strongest driver lineup in Formula 1.
Ferrari closed the 2024 season on a high note, narrowly missing out on the constructors’ championship to McLaren. The team’s late-season surge saw Leclerc scoring more points than any other driver after the summer break, solidifying Ferrari’s return to form.
Preparing for the 2025 Season
Hamilton faces a tight schedule to adapt to his new surroundings before the season kicks off in Melbourne, Australia, from March 14-16. His integration involves visits to Ferrari’s factory, simulator sessions, and driving the 2023 car to familiarize himself with the team’s operations.
Ferrari’s 2025 car will be unveiled on February 19, a day after Formula 1’s first official season launch event in London. Pre-season testing will take place in Bahrain from February 26-28, where Hamilton and Leclerc will share time in the new car.
Team Principal’s Confidence
Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur acknowledged the challenges of Hamilton’s transition but expressed confidence in his experience and adaptability.
“It’s not easy, but he’s coming with a wealth of experience,” Vasseur said during Ferrari’s Christmas lunch. “This is a continuation of the current regulations, so we have some reference points. I’m not worried, but it’s true this is a challenge.”
Vasseur anticipates a highly competitive 2025 championship battle, with Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes all in contention.
As Hamilton embarks on this exciting new chapter with Ferrari, fans eagerly await to see how the legendary driver will add to his already remarkable legacy.
