Hollywood actor Glen Powell has officially wrapped filming on the highly anticipated remake of the 1987 action classic The Running Man. Powell took to Instagram to share the news with fans, posting a behind-the-scenes image alongside director Edgar Wright, holding a giant movie slate.
“That’s a picture wrap on The Running Man! All my love and appreciation goes out to our incredible cast and crew who have worked tirelessly on it,” Powell wrote in his caption. “Can’t wait for the rest of y’all to see what we’ve been shooting…. Much more coming soon!”
The film, directed by Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver), sees Powell stepping into the lead role of Ben Richards, originally played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Based on Stephen King’s 1982 dystopian novel of the same name, The Running Man follows Richards as he attempts to evade a group of assassins in a deadly reality TV show.
Powell is joined by a star-studded cast, including Josh Brolin, Karl Glusman, Colman Domingo, Michael Cera, Katy O’Brian, William H. Macy, and Emilia Jones. Wright has co-written the screenplay with Michael Bacall, and the film is currently scheduled for release on November 21, 2025.
Speaking about Wright’s vision for the film, Powell previously told IndieWire: “The world that Edgar’s developed on this thing is just outrageous. It’s so good. And really, we’re just both such big fans of the Stephen King book [the movie is based on], and it’s going to be a great character. I’m so fired up about it.”
With Wright’s signature style and a stellar cast, The Running Man remake is shaping up to be one of the most exciting action films of 2025. Stay tuned for more updates as the release date approaches.
