Gaza Under Siege: Israeli Strikes Leave Thousands Dead Amid Growing Humanitarian Crisis

Israel Targets Flour Distribution Line, Scores Killed Across Gaza. The death toll in Gaza continues to soar, with health authorities reporting over 44,750 Palestinian casualties amidst ongoing Israeli airstrikes.

Israeli attacks in Gaza have claimed dozens of lives, including women and children, according to the territory’s Health Ministry. On Monday, the ministry reported that 50 people were killed and 84 others injured in what it described as three “massacres” carried out by Israeli forces.

In the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, an Israeli drone strike killed three individuals on Monday morning, local sources told Al Jazeera.

“The victims were searching for food near their neighborhood when they were targeted,” said Hani Mahmoud, Al Jazeera’s reporter in central Deir el-Balah. “Their bodies remain on the street, as it’s too dangerous to retrieve them.”

Jabalia has endured a 65-day siege, with thousands of residents facing severe shortages of food and water. Mahmoud described the area as being transformed into “a graveyard.”

In southern Gaza’s Rafah, an overnight airstrike killed 10 people as they waited in line to purchase flour. Mahmoud noted that the humanitarian crisis in southern Gaza mirrors the dire conditions in the north, with widespread hunger and desperation.

In central Gaza, at Al-Aqsa Hospital, bodies have overwhelmed the morgue following an airstrike on a residential building in the Bureij refugee camp. Nine members of a single family, mostly women and children, were among the casualties.

“The anguish here is indescribable,” Mahmoud said. “Relatives arrived early to collect the bodies, but the morgue was so overcrowded that there was no space for additional remains.”

Critical Conditions at Northern Hospital

In northern Gaza, Kamal Adwan Hospital is grappling with life-threatening challenges as power outages jeopardize the lives of over 100 patients. Hospital director Hussam Abu Safia reported that recent bombings severely damaged the facility, cutting off electricity, oxygen, and water supplies.

“The situation is extremely dire,” Abu Safia said. “Patients in intensive care and those awaiting surgery cannot receive treatment until power and oxygen are restored.”

The hospital currently cares for 112 wounded individuals, including six in intensive care and 14 children. Ongoing shelling near the facility has hindered critical repair efforts, he added.

Kamal Adwan Hospital, located near the heavily bombarded Jabalia refugee camp, is one of the few remaining operational medical facilities in northern Gaza. On Friday, four hospital staff members were killed in an Israeli strike.

Widespread Devastation

Israeli military operations have reportedly killed at least 44,758 Palestinians in Gaza since the conflict began, with women and children comprising the majority of casualties. Amidst the relentless bombing, humanitarian conditions in the territory remain catastrophic, with aid deliveries insufficient to meet the dire needs of the population.
