Fresh Exchange of Fire Between Indian and Pakistani Troops Along Kashmir Border

Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated once again following an attack by gunmen in Indian-administered Kashmir. Amid growing hostilities, another exchange of gunfire occurred between Indian and Pakistani forces along the Kashmir border.

According to Indian media outlet NDTV, this marks the third consecutive night of ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC). Although Indian media consistently blame Pakistan for such incidents, there has been no official response or report from Pakistani authorities regarding the latest exchanges.

NDTV reported that after a deadly attack in Pahalgam, the situation along the LoC has remained tense, with frequent gunfire between the two sides. Indian military sources allege that Pakistani forces are regularly violating the ceasefire. On the night of 26 to 27 April, Pakistani troops allegedly initiated “provocative small arms fire” without any provocation.

In a statement, the Indian Army said,
“Between the nights of April 26 and 27, Pakistani forces fired small arms across from Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors without any provocation. Our troops responded appropriately.”

This recent exchange comes amid heightened diplomatic tensions between the two countries, which have already led to actions such as visa cancellations, withdrawal of diplomats, and the closure of the Wagah-Attari border, their only land trade route.
