Former DMP Commissioner detained at the airport

Retired Additional IGP of Police and former DMP Commissioner Khandaker Ghulam Farooq was detained at the airport. It is said that he was going to Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.

After going to the exit immigration counter of the airport, he was interrogated by the immigration officer. After that he was not allowed to board the plane.

A source in charge of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport confirmed that he was detained around 3 pm on Saturday (October 26).

It is known that this former senior police officer was going to Bangkok on Thai Airways flight TG-340 on a personal visit.

However, he was interrogated by immigration officials after going to the airport’s exit immigration counter. After that he was not allowed to board the plane. Ghulam Farooq is currently with the Immigration Police. It has not yet been decided whether he will be handed over to the police station or he will return home.

Former DMP Commissioner Khandkar Golam Farooq is a citizen of Bangladesh. But he is said to have a US green card. He officially took charge as DMP Commissioner on 29th October 2022. He retired on 30th September 2023.
