First Trailer for Mission: Impossible 8 Reveals New Title

The filming for Mission: Impossible 8 is finally finished, and we’ve just seen the first trailer for the movie.

The movie was originally going to be called Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two. But after the first part didn’t do as well at the box office, the name was changed. When the first part came out on digital platforms, it was simply called Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning.

Now, the trailer for the new movie confirms that its title is Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt, of course. Since this movie picks up right after the cliffhanger ending of Dead Reckoning, we’ll see a lot of familiar faces with Ethan.

Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg return as Ethan’s IMF teammates, Luther Stickell and Benji Dunn. Hayley Atwell also returns as Grace, who is now an IMF agent after the events of the last movie.

Esai Morales is back as the villain, Gabriel. Vanessa Kirby returns as Alanna Mitsopolis, also known as the White Widow, and Pom Klementieff is back as Paris, who might now be on Ethan’s side.

The trailer also surprises fans with the return of Angela Bassett as Erika Sloane, a character who wasn’t in the previous movie.

New actors joining Mission: Impossible 8 include Hannah Waddingham, Katy O’Brian, and Janet McTeer. Rolf Saxon also returns as William Donloe, the character he played in the very first Mission: Impossible movie.

Unfortunately, Rebecca Ferguson won’t be back as Ilsa Faust, since her character died in Dead Reckoning. Unless the filmmakers are lying about her fate, we won’t see her again.

There’s also no confirmation about whether Jeremy Renner will return as William Brandt. However, he has said he would “always jump back into a Mission: Impossible movie and play Brandt again.”
