Finland Tops the List of Happiest Countries, Bangladesh Slips in Ranking

According to the World Happiness Report 2025, Bangladesh ranks 134th among 147 countries. Last year, Bangladesh was ranked 129th among 143 countries, meaning it has dropped five positions.

The report, published on Thursday (March 20), indicates that only 13 countries rank below Bangladesh, making them less happy. Among South Asian countries, only Afghanistan ranks lower than Bangladesh. Nepal is the happiest country in the region, followed by Pakistan, India, and Sri Lanka.

The World Happiness Report is compiled based on data collected by Gallup, Oxford’s Wellbeing Research Centre, the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and an editorial board. It evaluates happiness levels in over 140 countries.

As in previous years, Finland remains the happiest country in the world. The top ten happiest countries are:

  1. Finland
  2. Denmark
  3. Iceland
  4. Sweden
  5. Netherlands
  6. Costa Rica (entered the top ten for the first time)
  7. Norway
  8. Israel
  9. Luxembourg
  10. Mexico
