Exclusive Visa Program for World-Class Talent Launched

A new invitation-only permanent visa program, aimed at attracting exceptionally talented individuals from around the globe, is now open.

The National Innovation Visa (NIV), which came into effect on December 7, 2024, has replaced the Global Talent Visa. This elite program is designed for individuals with world-leading expertise in fields such as advanced robotics, quantum computing, and clean energy.

To be considered, candidates must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Department of Home Affairs. Only a select few will receive invitations to apply for the NIV based on their extraordinary skills and achievements.

Priority Groups for NIV Invitations
Applications will be assessed and processed in the following order of priority:

  1. Prestigious Award Recipients: This includes Nobel Prize laureates, Fields Medal winners, Booker Prize recipients, and Olympic gold medallists.
  2. Government-Endorsed Talent: Individuals endorsed by Australian federal, state, or territory government agencies.
  3. Experts in Key Sectors: Professionals in critical technologies, renewable energy, low-emission solutions, and health industries.
  4. Specialists in Emerging Fields: Exceptional talent in areas such as agri-food, ag-tech, defence, space, financial services, education, and infrastructure.

The NIV offers flexibility, with no age restrictions and adaptable English language requirements. Both international applicants and those already in Australia on temporary visas can apply.

Submitted EOIs remain valid for two years, and candidates may be invited to apply for the NIV at any time during this period.

This program underscores Australia’s commitment to fostering innovation and attracting global leaders to drive future growth and development.
