Even Jenny from the Block wasn’t willing to splurge on entertainment at her wedding — not even for Bruno Mars.

Celebrity wedding planner Marcy Blum recently revealed details from her time planning Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s canceled wedding during an appearance on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast. Blum worked with the couple following their engagement in March 2019, and one of the key discussions was about hiring a big-name entertainer.

Blum shared that Lopez asked about bringing in Mars to perform at their wedding. “We just worked with him, and he’s five,” Blum recalled telling the podcast hosts, referring to Mars’ fee.

When Michael Bosstick asked if the fee was “five million” just for a performance, Blum confirmed, “Yep,” adding that the payment covered only 45 minutes to an hour of Mars’ time.

Lopez’s reaction? A direct response: “Don’t be ridiculous,” Blum recalled. Even the Hollywood superstar found the price too high for a brief performance.

Lopez, 55, and Rodriguez, 49, broke up in 2021 after five years of dating. Lopez later rekindled her romance with Ben Affleck, and the two married in July 2022 (Mars did not perform at their wedding either). The couple divorced in August 2023.

Blum, who has planned weddings for many A-list celebrities, also shared advice for couples looking to book high-profile entertainers for their own weddings. She recommended setting a clear budget and being realistic about what you’re willing to spend to avoid the sticker shock that comes with booking big-name talent.
