Elon Musk Working to Shut Down USAID

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, is leading former President Donald Trump’s efforts to shrink the U.S. federal government. On Monday, Musk provided an update on this initiative, stating, “They are working to shut down the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).”

The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX discussed this matter on his social media platform, X, in an online conversation with officials from the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and Republican senators. Trump has assigned Musk to lead the federal government’s cost-cutting panel.

Among those who participated in the discussion on X were Republican politician Vivek Ramaswamy and Republican Senator Joni Ernst. At the beginning of the conversation, Musk confirmed that they were working toward shutting down USAID.

According to a report by British news agency Reuters, the Trump administration has removed two top security officials from USAID. Representatives from Musk-led DOGE reportedly visited the USAID
