Elon Musk to Step Down from Government Role

Billionaire Elon Musk is stepping down from his role at the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a division focused on reducing government expenses. Musk was appointed to this position last year by President Donald Trump and was considered a special government official.

According to Fox News, President Trump informed his cabinet members on April 2 about Musk’s decision to step down. Musk’s tenure was initially set for four months, which is expected to end in late May. However, it remains unclear whether he will leave before completing his term.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance told Fox News that despite stepping down, Musk will continue to be a friend and advisor to President Trump. He also mentioned that the work of DOGE is ongoing, even after Musk’s departure.

Since taking office, Trump has implemented cost-cutting measures, leading to layoffs of government employees, which have resulted in legal challenges. Additionally, the administration announced plans to shut down the operations of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of its budget reduction efforts.
