Elon Musk: The US Should Leave NATO

Elon Musk, the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the Trump administration, has once again urged the United States to leave NATO. In a recent post on the microblogging site X, Musk, a billionaire known for his close ties to Trump, reiterated this demand.

According to the Indian news outlet Hindustan Times, Musk shared a post on X stating, “Exit NATO Now.” He added, “We should get out. There is no sense in funding Europe’s defense this way.”

Earlier, on March 2, Musk made a similar statement, suggesting it was time for the US to leave both the United Nations and NATO.

NBC reported that Musk’s repeated comments have cast doubt on the future of the 32-member NATO alliance. On March 6, Trump even discussed NATO membership with allied countries.

During a special meeting on March 6, Trump warned that he would not fund NATO’s defense if allies did not pay their dues.

Since the Cold War, many European countries have relied heavily on the US for communication, intelligence, and logistics support. As NATO approaches its 76th anniversary next month, uncertainty looms over America’s continued involvement in the alliance.
