Elon Musk, a close ally of US President Donald Trump and the world’s richest man, has no formal decision-making powers, the White House has said. At the same time, the president’s office has confirmed that Musk is not an official employee of the US Department of Public Skills (DoGe).
The White House said this in court documents on Monday. Musk is considered to be the head of the new US division of DOGE. Trump set up the department after taking office to cut government spending and lay off employees. In November, he said the “great” Elon Musk would lead the DOGE.
Joshua Fischer, director of the U.S. Office of Administration, submitted the documents to the court. The documents were filed after a lawsuit filed by 14 states, including New Mexico, against Elon Musk.
According to the document, Elon Musk is a White House staffer and senior adviser to the president. Like other senior White House advisers, Musk does not have formal power to make government decisions on his own. He can only advise the president. He is also not an employee of the DOGE Service or the DOGE Service Temporary Organization.
Meanwhile, a joint interview with Trump and Musk is scheduled to be broadcast on US media Fox News on Tuesday. A portion of the interview was previously published. In it, Elon Musk is running the White House – Trump is seen responding strongly to critics’ comments.
“I think there’s never been more bad publicity about anyone in history than me,” Trump said. But do you know what I’ve learned, Elon? People are smart. Elon Musk said, “yes, they really are (smart). ’
