Elon Musk Deletes Anti-Trump Posts Amid Threat of ‘Serious Consequences’ from President

The Voice News: Elon Musk has quietly deleted several controversial posts from his social media platform X that directly criticized President Donald Trump, potentially signaling a de-escalation of the highly public feud between the two high-profile figures.

Among the now-removed posts were explosive claims linking Trump to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as well as Musk’s apparent endorsement of a user’s call to impeach Trump and replace him with Vice President JD Vance.

The deletions, discovered Saturday morning, come just days after Musk declared that Trump “wouldn’t be president without [him],” prompting a sharp backlash from the president, who threatened to sever federal contracts with Musk’s companies, including SpaceX and Starlink.

“Time to drop the really big bomb,” Musk had posted on Thursday. “@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” The post has since been replaced with a generic error message: “Hmm…this page doesn’t exist.”

In another now-deleted reply, Musk answered “yes” to a user suggesting Trump should be impeached. Both posts marked a dramatic escalation in tensions between the tech billionaire and the president, once considered close allies.

A Fractured Alliance

Only weeks ago, Trump and Musk appeared side-by-side at a White House ceremony, where the president presented Musk with a symbolic golden key to the nation. Trump had even purchased a red Tesla Model S in March, highlighting their once-public camaraderie.

The relationship began to unravel after Musk publicly criticized the GOP-backed “Big Beautiful Bill,” a sweeping budget proposal that excluded key reforms Musk had pushed for during his tenure as head of the Department of Government Efficiency.

Musk’s social media posts denouncing the bill—and Trump’s refusal to revise it—sparked a fierce exchange. Trump lashed out on his Truth Social platform, threatening to eliminate all federal subsidies and contracts with Musk’s companies.

“The easiest way to save money in our Budget—Billions and Billions of Dollars—is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts,” Trump wrote.

In a follow-up interview with NBC News on Saturday, Trump escalated his warnings, saying there would be “very serious consequences” if Musk were to begin funding Democratic candidates. He stopped short of detailing what those consequences might be.

“He’ll have to pay the consequences for that,” Trump said. “I think it’s a very bad thing. He’s being disrespectful to the office of the President.”

When asked whether he would attempt to repair the relationship with Musk, Trump bluntly replied: “No.”

From Ally to Adversary

The rift marks a remarkable turnaround in what was one of the most unconventional political alliances in modern U.S. history. Musk donated more than $275 million to support Trump’s 2024 campaign and was entrusted with overseeing government efficiency efforts in the early days of Trump’s second term.

The feud now threatens to disrupt federal ties with Musk’s sprawling business empire, while highlighting the increasingly personal tone of political discourse at the highest levels.

As of this weekend, the Tesla once proudly parked at the White House is reportedly up for sale. Whether this marks the end—or simply a pause—in the Musk-Trump saga remains to be seen.
