Manchester City, who have had a poor time on the pitch, have added another player in the January transfer window. Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush joined the English club on a four-and-a-half-year deal.
The English champions announced the signing of the 25-year-old footballer from German club Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday. The contract is up to June 2029.
City did not say anything about the transfer fee. However, according to the British media, the figure is about seven million euros. Along with other bonuses.
City pulled three players into the team in the January transfer. This week, 20-year-old defender Abdukhodir Kuzhanov from Uzbekistan and 19-year-old defender Vito Hayes from Brazil were recruited by them.
After joining Frankfurt from Wolfsburg in 2023, Marmausch scored 37 goals and 20 assists in 67 games for the club. He is floating in the excitement of fulfilling his dream by joining City.
“Manchester City has been one of the best clubs in the world for the last 10 years. It is a pleasure and honor for myself and my family to represent this club. They are happy, and so am I, that my dream is coming true.”
Marmaush has scored 15 goals in 17 Bundesliga matches this season. Only Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has more goals in the tournament, with 16.
Marmoush has played 35 matches for the national team Egypt, scoring 6 goals.
City are now fifth in the Premier League. They are 12 points behind Liverpool at the top. Liverpool have a game in hand.
Pep Guardiola’s side are in 25th place out of 36 teams in the new-look Champions League. They are in danger of falling out of the first phase.
