Ed Sheeran Makes History as First International Artist to Concert in Bhutan

Ed Sheeran made history on January 24, 2025, becoming the first international artist to perform a concert in Bhutan. The singer, best known for hits like “Bad Habits,” took the stage at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, marking a milestone in his career.

Reflecting on the moment, Sheeran shared a heartfelt video on Instagram, expressing his excitement: “Had the honour to be the first ever international artist to play Bhutan last night. What a gig, what a country, what a beautiful place with incredible people.” He also joked about the experience, saying, “Lemme know if I can move there, please and thank you.”

Sheeran also had the privilege of dining with Bhutan’s royal couple, King Jigme Khesar and Queen Jetsun Pema, who emphasized the importance of welcoming artists who respect the country’s ideals. The singer shared that this visit left a lasting impact on him, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and hoping to return in the future.

During his performance, Sheeran told the crowd, “I’ve been all around the world, been to some amazing places, but I’ve never done anything like this before.” The event marked a significant achievement in Sheeran’s Mathematics World Tour and is sure to be remembered as a historic moment for both the artist and the people of Bhutan.
