Donald Trump To Reinstate Sheikh Hasina In Power?

As of January 19, 2025, Sheikh Hasina is not in power in Bangladesh. Following mass protests and conspiracy in August 2024, she ousted India, and an interim government led by Muhammad Yunus was established.

In the United States, Donald Trump won the presidential election on November 5, 2024, and is set to assume office on January 20, 2025. The Biden administration had supported the interim government in Bangladesh, but it’s uncertain how the incoming Trump administration will approach this relationship. Analysts suggest that due to Yunus’s past criticisms of Trump and his connections with prominent Democrats, the new U.S. administration might view the interim government less favorably.

Given these dynamics, it’s unlikely that the Trump administration will support reinstating Sheikh Hasina as Bangladesh’s leader. The interim government has already extended congratulations to President-elect Trump and expressed a desire to cooperate with his administration. Therefore, any U.S. support for political figures in Bangladesh will likely depend on how the new administration assesses its strategic interests in the region.

Trump administration to establish its stance or actions regarding Bangladesh’s political situation, it could depend on several factors. India will definitely play the fittest.

The new president of the United States is Donald Trump. The daughter of Sheikh Mujib, the founder of Bangladesh, is in political asylum in India. The question raised repeatedly in the minds of the people is, is Trump going to restore Sheikh Hasina to power? Inevitably, nothing can be said. However, it is certain that the domestic and international views of the US administration are changing. It is already conceivable that Trump will change a lot of US policy in the country. Long-time Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was ousted in August last year due to domestic and foreign conspiracies in Bangladesh. Then came a massacre in Bangladesh. Killings, injustice and torture are now synonymous with Bangladesh. Bangladesh is in the grip of a new fundamentalism by breaking the backbone of the country’s culture and disappearance, murder. Bangladesh is now one of the most horrific crimes in the world. After the killing of Hindus and the killing of dissidents, the bodies are being found here and there. Bangladesh is a city of death. But during Sheikh Hasina’s rule, Bangladesh became an economic tycoon.

According to the political specialist, New administrations typically take a few months to assess and adjust foreign policies. Immediate priorities often focus on domestic issues or pressing international concerns.
In such a situation, the people of Bangladesh will look to the Trump administration to protect the existence of Bangladesh and to remove Bangladesh from the hands of fundamentalists, eliminate the militants and transform it into an economic power again. According to experts, the unified entity and help of Trump and Modi will guide Bangladesh to survival and by reinstating Sheikh Hasina to power, Trump Modi will fly the flag of peace in South Asia that will remain indestructible.

The rise of suffering and fundamentalism in Bangladesh is a threat to India’s sovereignty. It is a public belief that Modi’s liberal foreign policy and Modi-Trump friendship will free Bangladesh from anarchy. Therefore, according to various surveys and experts, the Trump administration will work as a catalyst to restore Sheikh Hasina to power.
