China-US Economic Talks Held in Beijing

A significant meeting took place between Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and John Thornton, Chairman Emeritus of the US-based think tank Brookings Institution. The meeting was held in Beijing on Tuesday, April 8, where they exchanged views on bilateral economic relations and the macroeconomic situation. This was reported by Chinese media outlet CMG.

He Lifeng stated that China is emphasizing the development of a unified national market and accelerating the growth of new and high-quality productive forces.
He further added that China is responding to external uncertainties through enhanced comprehensive reforms, expanding high-level openness, and pursuing high-quality development.

After the bilateral meeting, John Thornton remarked that the relationship between the United States and China is extremely important.
He also expressed his interest in continuing efforts from his side to enhance mutual communication between the peoples of both countries and maintain a stable relationship.
