Captain America: Brave New World is on track to surpass Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam at the worldwide box office this weekend, thanks to the underperformance of Snow White in North America. Despite mixed reviews and a shallow narrative, the film has maintained a solid hold at the box office, outperforming expectations.
As of its sixth Friday in theaters, Captain America 4 collected $1.1 million in North America, bringing its domestic total to $189.1 million. Overseas, it has earned $203.54 million, pushing its worldwide gross to $392.66 million. This means the film is just shy of Black Adam’s global total of $393.45 million, and it’s expected to overtake the DC movie by the end of the weekend.
Despite the loss of theaters due to the release of Snow White, Captain America 4 has been a steady performer, with projections indicating it will earn between $3.5 million and $4.5 million this weekend. Additionally, the film is set to surpass Eternals’ worldwide haul of $402.06 million.
While Captain America: Brave New World may not be the MCU’s brightest star, Anthony Mackie’s portrayal of the new Captain America has been well received, and the film’s ongoing box office performance suggests it may continue to thrive in the coming weeks.
