Canada and the United States Should Become One Country: Trump

Newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that Canada should unite with the United States, as it would bring many benefits to Canada. On Monday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau resigned, and shortly after, Trump made such remarks on social media.

He said, “If Canada merges with the United States, there will be no tariffs, taxes will decrease, and they will be completely safe from the threats of Russian and Chinese warships, which continue to surround them. Canada and the United States as one—what an amazing country this would be!”

Earlier, Trump had expressed his desire to purchase Greenland, the world’s largest island. However, after he expressed this aspiration on social media, Greenland’s Prime Minister Múte Bourup Egede gave a strong response. On the social media platform Truth Social, Trump posted a message saying, “In the interest of global security and freedom, the United States believes that ownership and control of Greenland is essential at this moment.”

Following Trump’s post, security measures in Greenland were heightened. Prior to this, Trump also threatened to take control of the Panama Canal.
