Fans of Bridget Jones can now look forward to enjoying the beloved character from the comfort of their own homes, as Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy has confirmed its digital release date in the UK.
The fourth film in the Bridget Jones series, starring Renée Zellweger, was released in cinemas just before Valentine’s Day and continues to screen in theaters. However, for those eager to stream the film, it will be available digitally on Monday, March 31, including on Prime Video.
The film has received positive reception from both fans and critics, with a solid 89% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. Digital Spy gave it a three-star review, noting, “This instalment won’t have a lasting impact like the first movie, but it certainly doesn’t dampen Bridget’s legacy or make her any less iconic.”
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy follows Bridget four years after the death of her husband, Mark Darcy. She is now raising her 9-year-old son, Billy, and 4-year-old daughter, Mabel, as a single mother. The film also stars Hugh Grant, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Leo Woodall.
While many believed this would be the final chapter for Bridget, Zellweger has expressed that she would never be done with the character. In January, she told Deadline, “Hopefully [author Helen Fielding] might spark to something and want to share something through the Bridget character again down the line.” When asked if she would reprise the role, she added, “Who would say no?”
Fans can now enjoy this heartwarming and humorous installment of Bridget Jones from home starting March 31.
