Police have recovered the body of a man with his throat slit from his flat in the Tanbazar Shahapara area of Narayanganj city, Bangladesh. The deceased has been identified as Utpal Roy (62), who served as the Project Director of the non-governmental organization (NGO) Save the Children.
The body was found in a rented flat in a seven-story building owned by Shankar Saha in the Tanbazar Shahapara area. Utpal Roy lived on the fourth floor of the building and was the father of two sons.
Utpal Roy’s son, Ujjal Kumar Roy, stated, “Around 9:30 PM, we knocked on the door repeatedly, but no one answered. Later, we broke the lock and found my father’s body with his throat slit.”
He further added, “A domestic worker from Bandar Upazila used to come regularly to work at the house. She had come today between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM and left between 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM. We do not know if anyone else visited the house.”
Regarding the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Nasiruddin of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station said, “The body has been sent to the hospital for an autopsy. There is a cut on his throat. Police are working to identify the culprits, and legal action will be taken after investigation.”
