Ben Affleck on Batsuit Struggles: I Hated It

Ben Affleck isn’t mincing words when it comes to his time in the cape and cowl. In a new interview with GQ, the former Batman opened up about just how uncomfortable it was to wear the iconic Batsuit — calling it a nightmare on set.

“I hated the Batsuits,” Affleck admitted. “They’re horrendous to wear. They’re hot, they don’t breathe, and no thought is put into the human being wearing them.”

The Oscar winner recalled sweating nonstop inside the suit, saying it made filming exhausting. “You’d just be pouring water… It does not make you feel very heroic, because you’re instantly exhausted and really sweaty.”

Affleck portrayed the Dark Knight in several DC films including Batman v Superman, Justice League, and The Flash, but joked that maybe other Batmen like Christian Bale or Robert Pattinson were just “better at dealing with it.”

The Batsuit has drawn criticism before — most famously from Tim Burton, who blasted the infamous “Batnipple” design of George Clooney’s suit in Batman & Robin. “You complain I’m too dark, and then you put nipples on the costume? Go f*** yourself,” Burton said in a 2022 Empire interview.

Seems like even superheroes can’t escape wardrobe woes.
