India Reaffirms Strong Ties with Bangladesh Amid Agartala Security Breach Concerns
Dhaka Summons Indian High Commissioner Over Incident at Bangladesh Assistant High Commission
Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma on Tuesday following a security breach at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura. Protesters reportedly breached security barricades at the diplomatic mission, prompting Dhaka to seek an explanation.
After the meeting with acting Foreign Secretary M. Riaz Hamidullah, Verma reassured reporters of India’s commitment to maintaining strong bilateral ties. “India and Bangladesh share a wide-ranging and multi-faceted relationship that cannot be reduced to just one issue,” he stated.
Verma also emphasized India’s readiness to work with Bangladesh’s interim government to preserve the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
