Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz has made a significant leap in the latest ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings, climbing to the second position among Test all-rounders following a stellar performance in the second Test against Zimbabwe in Chattogram.
The 27-year-old delivered an outstanding all-round display, scoring a brilliant 104 and claiming his third five-wicket haul of the series. This effort propelled him past South Africa’s Marco Jansen, placing him behind only India’s Ravindra Jadeja, who continues to lead the rankings with 400 rating points. Mehidy now stands at a career-best 327 points.
His contributions earned him both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards. Additionally, Mehidy moved up eight spots to reach 55th in the batting rankings and climbed to 24th among Test bowlers after taking 5 for 32 in Zimbabwe’s second innings. India’s Jasprit Bumrah continues to top the bowling chart.
Since making his first-class debut in 2015 with a 51-run knock and four wickets, Mehidy has grown into one of Bangladesh’s most dependable players. He began his T20 career with the Rajshahi Kings in 2016 and has since featured for Khulna Tigers and Chattogram Challengers in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Left-handed opener Shadman Islam also impressed in the match, rising 17 spots to 60th in the batting rankings following a century in the first innings that contributed to Bangladesh’s emphatic innings-and-106-run victory, leveling the series 1-1.
Among the bowlers, Taijul Islam remains Bangladesh’s top-ranked Test bowler after a nine-wicket haul in the match. Off-spinner Nayeem Hasan has also made notable progress in the rankings.
On the Zimbabwean side, veteran all-rounder Sean Williams has returned to the top 20, climbing to a career-best-equalling 19th position after scoring a half-century in the first innings. Teammate Ben Curran also made a strong move, jumping 20 places to 94th.
