Bangladeshi Youth Nazifah Appointed International Consultant at UN in Panama

Nazifa Haidar, a young Bangladeshi professional, has been appointed as an International Consultant at the United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Panama. At just 25, she is one of the youngest consultants currently serving with the UN.

Nazifa received her official appointment letter on Thursday, May 22, after successfully completing a 9-month training program at the UN’s Panama office. Her appointment marks a proud moment for Bangladesh, as she steps into a role where she will contribute directly to global migration issues.

Speaking about her journey, Nazifa said, “Since childhood, I’ve been deeply interested in global migration. I used to write about the Rohingya crisis from an early stage of my academic life. I loved studying international affairs and, during my time in the UK, I was actively involved with the Rohingya Society. These experiences taught me that migration isn’t just a political or humanitarian issue—it connects the world, fosters diversity, and builds bridges for development.”

Nazifa holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and a master’s degree in International Business from the University of Manchester. She completed her O-Levels from Scholastica International School in Dhaka and her A-Levels from Fairview International School in Malaysia.

She is the eldest daughter of Engineer A.S.M. Haidar, Chairman of Euro Group, Bangladesh.

Nazifa describes her new role at the IOM not just as the fulfillment of a personal dream but as a platform to drive meaningful change. “This is a tremendous honor. It’s more than a job—it’s a chance to make a real difference,” she said.
