Iran-backed Houthi rebels from Yemen have launched a ballistic missile attack on Israel. Following the missile strike on Sunday, sirens were sounded across Israel to warn residents. However, no immediate casualties or damage have been reported.
According to a report by The Times of Israel, missiles were launched from Yemen, prompting sirens to be activated in various parts of Israel to alert civilians.
Reporters from the French news agency AFP confirmed hearing sirens in Jerusalem. Soon after, explosions from the Houthi-fired missiles were also heard in Israel.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the Iran-backed Houthi rebels launched at least two ballistic missiles targeting Israeli territory on Sunday.
The IDF mentioned that their air defense systems attempted to intercept the incoming missiles. However, investigations are ongoing to determine whether the interception was successful.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the Houthi missile attack.
According to The Times of Israel, sirens were heard in central Israel, Jerusalem, and some settlements in the West Bank.
Since March 18, the Israeli military has launched renewed operations in the blockaded Gaza Strip. In response, the Houthi rebels have launched over 20 ballistic missiles and dozens of drones at Israel.
