Awami League Distributes Leaflets Nationwide to Ensure Success of Party’s Program

Labeling the interim government formed under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Yunus as illegal and unconstitutional, the Awami League has implemented its pre-announced program of leaflet distribution from February 1 to February 5 across the country.

On Saturday (February 1) at 8:30 AM, Awami League leaders and activists distributed leaflets to pedestrians and passengers in front of the main gate of the National Press Club and surrounding areas. Former Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Muhammad Anwar Hossain, stated that this leaflet distribution program would continue for five consecutive days across the country, including Dhaka metropolis.

Among those participating in the leaflet distribution were former Chhatra League leaders, including former General Education Secretary Mukib Mia, former Vice President of Dhaka Metropolitan South Chhatra League S.M. Abdur Rahim, former Assistant Secretary Enamul Haque Prince, Joint General Secretary Didar Muhammad Nizamul Haque, former Vice President of Jagannath University Chhatra League M.M. Nazmul Hasan and Vice President Hasan Ahmed Khan, former Deputy Human Resource Secretary Kapil Halder Sajal, Aminul Islam, Abdus Samad Lavlu, Ali Hossain, Mahmudul Hasan Mamun, and other leaders.

The leaflet highlighted several key issues, including protests against misrule, repression, and oppression, and the demand for the resignation of Dr. Yunus. It also called for the withdrawal of false murder cases and other legal actions against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and others by the illegal and unconstitutional ICT Tribunal, as well as an end to what was described as a “sham trial.” The leaflet condemned attacks and massacres against religious minorities, including Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian communities, and indigenous groups, along with assaults on religious sites.

Additionally, the leaflet demanded justice for the killing of more than three thousand people, including children, students, civilians, police officers, and Ansar members through meticulous planning. It also raised concerns about deteriorating law and order, rising incidents of murder, rape, extortion, robbery, and looting, and called for ensuring public safety. The leaflet protested the disappearance, murder, and killings of thousands of Awami League leaders, activists, and pro-Liberation War individuals across the country.

Furthermore, the leaflet addressed the uncontrolled price hikes of essential commodities, called for the withdrawal of corruption and tax evasion cases against Dr. Yunus, and opposed the five-year tax exemption granted to Grameen Bank while increasing VAT and taxes on the general public. Other demands included protests against financial scandals in the stock market, the destruction of banks and financial institutions, and attacks on Sufi saints, Baul singers, artists, writers, intellectuals, lawyers, media personalities, and centuries-old shrines.

The leaflet also highlighted the closure of garment and other industries, which resulted in mass unemployment among female workers and laborers. It condemned mass arrests, indiscriminate detentions, and demanded the release of political prisoners.

Overall, the Awami League labeled Dr. Muhammad Yunus as an “illegal and unconstitutional usurper, murderer, and fascist” and called for his resignation.

Alongside leaflet distribution, Awami League leaders and activists also held support rallies and protest marches in all districts and sub-districts across the country, including the capital, Dhaka.
