At London Assembly, Sheikh Hasina Calls Yunus’s Government Fascist, Vows Action Under Constitutional Law

Sheikh Hasina Labels Yunus-Led Interim Government as Fascist, Blames Him for Recent Deaths

LONDON – Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, speaking virtually at an Awami League assembly in London on Sunday at 2:00 PM, denounced the interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus as a “fascist government.”

Hasina accused Yunus of being directly responsible for the deaths that have occurred since the July protest movement, which led to her ouster. “He will be held accountable under Article 7B of the Bangladesh Constitution,” she declared during her address.

Sheikh Hasina, who was removed from office in August following a controversial student-led uprising, has repeatedly criticized Yunus and his administration for what she describes as their anti-democratic and oppressive policies. Her remarks come amid ongoing political tensions and unrest in Bangladesh.

The Awami League leader emphasized her commitment to ensuring that justice prevails for those who lost their lives, vowing, “All those responsible will be punished under the law.”
