At Least 39 More Palestinians Killed in Gaza, Death Toll Nears 51,000

At least 39 more Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip, with over a hundred others injured. As a result, the total number of deaths in the blockaded enclave has nearly reached 51,000.

According to a report published by Anadolu Agency on Monday (April 14), more than 1,600 Palestinians have been killed since Israel resumed its offensive on Gaza on March 18.

The agency reports that Israeli attacks in the past 24 hours alone claimed at least 39 lives. The Gaza Health Ministry announced on Monday that the total number of deaths since Israel’s genocidal aggression began in October 2023 has risen to 50,983.

In a statement, the ministry said 118 more injured individuals were taken to various hospitals across Gaza in the past 24 hours. This brings the number of injured since the beginning of the conflict to 116,274. Many victims remain trapped under rubble or lying on the streets, inaccessible to rescue teams.

Following 15 months of military operations, Israel agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza on January 19 under pressure from the United States and the international community. Relative calm prevailed for nearly two months. However, renewed airstrikes began in the third week of March amid disagreements between Hamas and Israel over troop withdrawals from Gaza.

According to the Health Ministry, since the renewed offensive began on March 18, at least 1,613 Palestinians have been killed and more than 4,200 injured in Israeli airstrikes. These brutal attacks have effectively nullified the ceasefire agreement that came into effect in January this year.

According to the United Nations, approximately 85% of Gaza’s population has been displaced due to Israel’s relentless aggression. Additionally, 60% of the territory’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.

Earlier in November last year, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over its aggression in the besieged territory.
