Argentina Crushes Brazil with a 4-1 Victory

Argentina 4 – 1 Brazil

Before the match, Brazilian winger Raphinha confidently claimed that Brazil would return victorious, even promising to score himself. However, at Estadio Monumental, finding Raphinha on the field was a challenge. In fact, Brazil as a whole struggled to make an impact against Argentina’s dominant performance.

First Half: Argentina Takes Control

The match’s storyline was largely set within the first half. Argentina struck twice within the opening 20 minutes. By halftime, the score stood at 3-1 in favor of Argentina. Substitute Giuliano Simeone further widened the gap in the second half.

Argentina had already secured their World Cup qualification before the match, and they celebrated in style by thrashing their arch-rivals. The goals came from Julián Álvarez, Alexis Mac Allister, Enzo Fernández, and Giuliano Simeone, while Matheus Cunha netted Brazil’s only goal.

Key Moments

4th Minute: Rodrigo De Paul’s pass set Nicolás Tagliafico free on the left flank. His precise delivery found Thiago Almada, whose through ball allowed Álvarez to score effortlessly.

12th Minute: Alexis Mac Allister made a strong run into Brazil’s half before linking up with Álvarez. The ball then found Nahuel Molina, whose cross led to an easy finish for Enzo Fernández.

30th Minute: Brazil responded as Matheus Cunha capitalized on a mistake by Cristian Romero to pull one back.

41st Minute: Enzo Fernández’s chipped pass from a corner was met by Mac Allister, who restored Argentina’s two-goal lead.

Second Half: Argentina Seals the Win

49th Minute: Julián Álvarez nearly scored again, but Brazilian goalkeeper Bento made a crucial save.

60th Minute: Nicolás Tagliafico’s header narrowly missed the target.

68th Minute: Substitute Giuliano Simeone made an instant impact, scoring just three minutes after coming on. His precise shot left Bento with no chance, making it 4-1.

Brazil came close to scoring again, with Raphinha’s free-kick hitting the crossbar and Bento denying Leandro Paredes from long range. However, no further goals were scored, and Argentina secured a resounding victory.

This was the first time since 2012 that Brazil conceded four goals against Argentina, marking a historic win for the Albiceleste.
