Apple has canceled plans for a sequel to the movie Wolfs, which starred George Clooney and Brad Pitt. This comes just three months after Apple made a deal with director Jon Watts to create the follow-up. Watts recently confirmed that there won’t be a Wolfs sequel, as he isn’t sure what his next project will be.
The news came after Watts spoke about his future plans during an interview for his new Disney+ show Skeleton Crew. He said, “I don’t know what I’m directing next, and I don’t think there’s going to be a ‘Wolfs’ sequel.”
In August, Apple had already changed how Wolfs was going to be released. Initially, the movie was supposed to have a wide release in theaters, but that plan was dropped in favor of a limited one-week theater showing. The movie then debuted on Apple TV+ a week later, on September 27.
Despite the changes, Wolfs had a successful debut. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival and became the most-watched film ever on Apple TV+. However, with the sequel now canceled, it seems the excitement around the movie has faded.
Apple has not commented on why the sequel plans were stopped.
