‘Anora’ Takes Top Honor at PGA Awards; Full Winners List

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) Awards took place this weekend, shedding light on the upcoming Oscar race as Anora claimed the prestigious Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures. This win follows the film’s earlier triumph at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) Awards, where director Sean Baker also took home the top prize. Additionally, Anora nabbed the Critics Choice Award earlier in the week, positioning it as a frontrunner heading into the Academy Awards.

Other notable winners include The Wild Robot, which claimed the PGA award for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures, and Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, which won Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Picture. Despite missing out on an Oscar nomination, Super/Man took the top documentary prize at the PGA Awards.

On the television front, Hacks emerged victorious, winning the Danny Thomas Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television – Comedy. Meanwhile, Netflix’s Baby Reindeer claimed the David L. Wolper Award for Outstanding Producer of Limited or Anthology Series Television.

Other TV highlights include Saturday Night Live, which won the Outstanding Producer of Live Entertainment, Variety, Sketch, Standup & Talk Television award, and The Traitors, which triumphed in the Game & Competition Series category.

The PGA Awards are widely considered a reliable predictor of the Academy Awards, especially in the Best Picture category. With Anora, The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown, Dune: Part Two, and others receiving PGA nominations, it seems likely that many of these films will also be in contention for Oscar glory.
