James Anderson was not in the middle of the game after the farewell Test last July. The English pacer is finally going to return to professional cricket. And he is doing so by extending his one-year contract to his old county team Lancashire.
Anderson is returning to professional cricket with T20 – a format he has not played in more than a decade! The 42-year-old pacer will be available for the entire County Championship season and the T20 Blast.
England’s top Test wicket-taker said on the Taylors podcast after the new contract, “I feel very excited. I still feel fit, I feel young. So I want to keep playing. ’
Despite leaving international cricket, Anderson has said before that he wants to continue playing. To that end, he was named in the IPL auction in December. It is unfortunate that he remained unsold. He has since signed a new contract with Lancashire after his central contract with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) ended. This will be his 24th season in the county! Anderson made his debut for Lancashire in 2001.
