Al Pacino’s Wild Night: The Time He Was Almost “Kidnapped” After a Bar Night Out

In a story straight out of a Hollywood thriller, legendary actor Al Pacino recently shared a bizarre incident from his younger days, detailed in his newly released autobiography, Sonny Boy. The Godfather star recalled the night he was almost “kidnapped” by a mysterious woman after leaving a bar.

At the time, Pacino was riding high after the release of The Godfather, but fame hadn’t fully caught up with him yet. After a night out, he found himself lost, wandering the streets, desperately searching for his way home. That’s when a woman pulled up in her car and offered him a ride. With no better options, Pacino—groggy from a night of drinks—accepted the offer.

However, things took a strange turn when Pacino realized the car was headed in the wrong direction. When he asked where she was taking him, the woman coolly replied, “I’m kidnapping you.” Initially, Pacino thought it was a joke, but the situation quickly became tense.

Pacino, now 84, describes in his memoir how, realizing he was in serious trouble, he did what any action star might do—he opened the car door and jumped out, risking injury. Thankfully, the woman had a change of heart and decided to drive him home safely.

Pacino’s film credits include The Godfather (1972), Scarface (1983), and Scent of a Woman (1992), for which he won his first Academy Award. Yet, as thrilling as his onscreen roles may be, this offscreen adventure is one for the books!

Sonny Boy hit shelves on October 15, offering fans a glimpse into Pacino’s life behind the scenes—one that includes more than just classic film performances, but real-life drama as well.
