Actor Sebastian Stan Says Hollywood Stars Are ‘Afraid’ of Trump

Sebastian Stan, who stars in The Apprentice, a movie about Donald Trump’s early years with lawyer Roy Cohn, says other actors in Hollywood are too “afraid” of the president-elect to talk about the movie with him.

Stan said he couldn’t find any actor to join him in an interview for the Actors on Actors series, which is hosted by the magazine Variety. This series is where famous actors ask each other questions about their careers.

At a recent question-and-answer event in Los Angeles, Stan – who is best known for his work in Marvel movies – said, “I couldn’t find another actor to do it with me because they were too afraid to talk about this movie. So I couldn’t do it.”

He added, “I’ve done a lot of great things, and I’m not pointing at anyone. We couldn’t get past the publicists or the people representing them because they were too afraid to talk about this movie.”

This claim was confirmed by Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh, who said, “What Sebastian said is true. We invited him to join Actors on Actors, which is a big show during awards season, but other actors didn’t want to be with him because they didn’t want to talk about Donald Trump.”

Stan said he feels that this reaction shows what will happen when Trump becomes president in January.

“That’s when I think we lose the situation,” he said. “If it’s like this – fear or discomfort about talking about it – then we’re going to have a real problem.”

Stan added, “For many, it’s hard to accept that Trump is just like anyone else, and I understand that emotions are very high. But I think that’s the only way you’ll understand this movie.”
