AC Milan beat Inter to win Italian Super Cup

AC Milan won the competition for the first time since 2016 despite being 2-0 down against the last three-time champions.

Lautaro Martinez’s burning in the title fight is inevitable. The Argentine striker scored in another final. Mehdi Taremi, who contributed to his goal, later found the net himself. But after falling behind by two goals, AC Milan turned around incredibly. They won the Italian Super Cup with a dramatic win.

AC Milan beat Inter Milan 3-2 in the final at the Al-Awwal Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Monday night.

In the second half, Theo Hernandez and Christian Pulisic scored the equalizer and Tammy Abraham made the difference in the added time.
In the first half, Inter went ahead with Martinez’s excellent goal. Taremi got into the attack from the throw-in and found Martinez in the box. The striker, who scored the only goal in Argentina’s winning goal in the 2024 Copa America final, sent the ball to the left foot shot to avoid the obstacle of the opponent’s two players.

Inter beat Napoli in the last Italian Super Cup final with Martinez’s only goal. He also found the net in the previous two one-match title fights.

In the second minute of the second half, Taremi doubled the gap. Iran’s forward defeated the goalkeeper by entering the box with the ball raised by Stefan de Vrei from his own half.

Four minutes later, French defender Hernandez reduced the gap with a nice low free-kick from just outside the box.

In the 71st minute, the goalkeeper cleared the goal line after Inter Milan’s Carlos Augusto’s head hit the post.

Pulisic made the scoreline 2-2 with 10 minutes left in the scheduled time. From the left side, Ernandez’s pass took control of the box and sent the US forward to the net with a great shot.
And in the third minute of the five-minute added time, AC Milan was delighted with the performance of two substitute players. English striker Abraham sent the ball to the empty net from Rafael Leao’s excellent pass.

AC Milan lost 3-0 to Inter Milan in the 2022 title clash. This time they took sweet revenge.

From 2023, the Italian Super Cup is being held with four teams, including the champions and runners-up of Serie A and Italian Cups.
