Freezing weather from the Arctic is descending into the central United States, creating extreme weather conditions.
At least 60 million people in more than 30 U.S. states have been hit by a massive snowstorm. A state of emergency has been declared in Kansas, Kentucky, Arkons, West Virginia, Virginia, Missouri entirely, and parts of New Jersey.
On Sunday, the snowstorm brought snow, ice and freezing temperatures to large parts of the United States, including those states. The snowstorm is expected to bring the heaviest snowfall and lowest temperature records in more than a decade.
This extreme weather has been created due to the cyclone of the Arctic region. This cyclone is an area of extreme cold air that circulates around the Arctic Ocean. From there, freezing weather is descending into the central United States, creating extreme weather conditions.
Thousands of flights have been delayed or cancelled. Nearly 2,000 flights have already been cancelled, according to data from tracking website FlightAware.
Many roads have been closed to traffic due to the snowstorm. Schools have also been closed. A ski rider has died in the middle of a glacier on a mountain in Wyoming.
