Washington on high alert ahead of Trump’s inauguration

A 30-mile temporary fence has been erected in Washington as a precaution ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration.

A 30-mile (48 kilometer) long and high temporary fence of black color has been installed. Some 25,000 law enforcement officers have been deployed. Security checkpoints have been set up for millions of spectators. Above all, Washington has made full preparations for the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump with great caution. He will be sworn in on January 20.

Trump will be sworn in on the steps of the US Capitol Hill. A parade will then be held at the White House
Donald Trump’s inauguration is going to come at a time when the citizens of the United States have witnessed several attacks in a few months. Donald Trump was attacked twice during the presidential campaign. In one of these attacks, a bullet fired by a potential assassin touched Trump’s ear. On New Year’s Day, there were two attacks on American civilians. A former U.S. soldier ploughed a truck into people gathered for New Year’s Eve. The attack left 14 people dead and dozens injured. On the same day, a Tesla Cybertruck detonated and killed himself outside a hotel owned by Trump in Las Vegas.

“We are under great threat,” Matt McCool, the intelligence agency’s special agent-in-charge, said in a news release on Monday. ’

At the inauguration ceremony, Donald Trump will be sworn in on the steps of Capitol Hill facing the Washington Monument in the presence of members of Congress, the Supreme Court, the new administration and millions of people. At the same site, on January 6, 2021, thousands of Trump supporters vandalized, clashed with police, and lawmakers were forced to flee for their lives. These activities were carried out without conceding defeat to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

U.S. security officials said they were not aware of any specific and well-planned attacks on the inauguration. But they are concerned about a single attacker, like the New Orleans attacker or the two different attacks last week. U.S. Capitol Police said they arrested a man who tried to set fire to the Capitol.

Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger said at a security briefing, “Single shooters are the biggest reason we have taken this high alert action over the coming week.” ’
On Monday, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security alerted police nationwide of the risk of attacks similar to those in New Orleans.

On the outskirts of Washington, about two miles (three kilometers) from the White House to Capitol Hill will be closed to traffic. Entrances will be blocked with concrete embankments, garbage trucks and other heavy objects.

A 30-mile-long and 7-foot-high black fence has been erected. It is placed in such a way that it cannot be climbed. Some 7,800 National Guard troops and 4,000 officers from other police departments across the country will be deployed to the security forces.
