Starmer wants to turn Britain into an ‘AI’ superpower

Prime Minister Keir Starmer wants to turn the UK into an artificial intelligence (AI) superpower. To achieve this goal, he has pledged to create innovation-friendly regulations, open up the necessary information for researchers and create infrastructure for data centers. The British news agency Reuters reported.

Speaking at University College London on Monday, he said he had ambitions for the country’s economic growth. He wants to put AI technology at the center.

Proper use of AI technology could increase Britain’s annual output by 1.5 percent. Over the next decade, the economic value of this growth could be $ 57 billion a year.

Starmer said Britain was already the leading European country in AI investment and said Britain would be one of the world’s AI superpowers. We will move forward on the path of prosperity by ensuring the use of AI technology for everyone in the country.

There is a competition between different countries worldwide to become a hub for artificial intelligence technology. At the same time, some restrictions are also being imposed to prevent the misuse of the technology.
The United Kingdom is the sixth largest economy in the world. However, according to research from Stanford University, only two countries are ahead of Britain in investment and patents in AI technology – the United States and China.

Starmer said 50 suggestions would be accepted, according to venture capitalist Matt Clifford’s report on AI technology.

Notable among them is to speed up the process of approval of plans to simplify the construction of data centers and provide energy connections for them. The first data centre will be built in Culham, Oxfordshire, where the UK’s Atomic Energy Authority is located.

Britain’s economy is not growing as well as expected. The highest tax has been imposed since 1993 in the last budget. As a result, many traders have lost their enthusiasm. Last month, the Bank of England said the economy had not grown in the latest quarter.

Starmer is hopeful that AI technology can help overcome this situation. He said that this technology can radically change people’s lives. Artificial intelligence technology will help in providing quick advice for planning, supporting small businesses and reducing administrative pressure on doctors and teachers.
